OUR STORY
At The Sweet Slice, we believe every bite should feel like a celebration. Founded by pastry chef Sibahle Khumalo, our Durban-based bakery has grown from a simple love for baking into an award-winning brand recognized among South Africa’s Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands.
What started with a homemade chocolate mousse cake in 2016 has blossomed into a luxury cakery and café on Florida Road, where you’ll find handcrafted cakes, cupcakes, pastries, and seasonal desserts made fresh from scratch each day. Whether you’re looking for a custom celebration cake, a sweet treat with your coffee, or a thoughtful gift, we bring creativity, craftsmanship, and heart into everything we make.

We officially launched Cake Card SA, our sister brand, which takes gifting to a new level. We paired a greeting card shaped box with cake slices, and now our customers can send hearfelt gifts anywhere nationswide!

We were commissioned to create a cake masterpiece for the Sun Sibaya Casino's 20th Birthday celebration! Our pastry chef gave the crowd a show as she setup and decorated this cake during the celebration.

We hosted our very first High Tea event in partnership with Madam & Sir Restaurant in celebration on Women's Day. Our team had so much fun preparing the different pastries and setting up the dessert station.
